Dowagiac trailed 7-0 at halftime, but took the opening kickoff and drove it in for a tying touchdown by Todd McIntyre.

“Us coaches are very proud of the team and the way they played,” Dowagiac coach Matt Alward said. “We need to build off of this game and get ready for next week.”

Freshmen football

Lucas Petro had 13 carries for 118 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 14-yard touchdown reception.

Shane Bevins finished with 74 yards and a score on just six carries.

Brody Froehlich had a pair of sacks to lead the defensive effort.
