Freshmen football
Aaron Adams had 109 yards and a touchdown for Dowagiac, while Davion Highsmith added a rushing touchdown and was 3-for-3 for 113 yards passing with a touchdown.
Carl Grant, who had two receptions for 37 yards, caught the touchdown pass.
Defensively for the Chieftains, Shane Bevins had eight tackles and a sack, while Nick Theilman and Jason Webber also had sacks.
Brody Froehlich had an interception.
“This was a great team win,” Dowagiac coach Tony Scaccia said. “Our defense turned in an outstanding effort keeping Allegan off the scoreboard. Offensively we have some things to improve on before St. Joe comes to town next Thursday.”
JV football
Dowagiac opened up a 20-0 halftime lead and never looked back against the Tigers.
Todd McIntyre and Brendon Murray each recorded an interception for the Chieftains, while Anteyon Russell, Murray, Brandon Pompey and Josh Richards were all singled out for their running by coach Matt Alward.
“Our offensive line of Dallas Hale, Logan Polomcak, Jeremy Zelke, B.J. Aggrie, Tyler Duffy, Connor East and Cal Cox blocked well,” he said.
The Dowagiac JV will host Comstock on Thursday night.
