Drug bust carried out in Vandalia

Cass County Drug Enforcement Team reports that in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 16, it served a search warrant for narcotics at a residence in the 60000 block of Water Street in the Village of Vandalia.
The drug team was assisted at the scene by the Cass County Warrant Service Team and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
During initial service of the search warrant, the Warrant Service Team encountered a barricaded subject in the upstairs area of a garage located on the property.
Chemical agents and “less-lethal ordnance” were utilized to take that subject into custody.
Detectives recovered “large quantities” of crack cocaine with an approximate street value of $6,000 and powder cocaine with a an estimated street value of $2,600 and marijuana with an approximate street value of $400 from the residence.
Four weapons were recovered from the residence as well.
Detectives seized more than $7,800 in cash, several vehicles and a large quantity of civil forfeiture property.
Four children ranging in age from 10 to 14 years of age located at the residence were turned over to the Michigan Department of Human Services, Child Protective Services.
Three subjects were arrested at the scene – a 36-year-old male, a 25-year-old male and a 33-year-old female.
The two male subjects were placed in federal custody.
The female subject was lodged at the Cass County Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
