Comedians at Beckwith Friday
Published 8:03 pm Thursday, May 13, 2010
For tonight, May 14, only, comedians Justin “Jay” Cooper and Dustin LaPratt will be appearing at Beckwith Theatre as part of the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival. Their show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The theater is located at 100 New York Ave., kitty corner from Dowagiac District Library.
Tickets cost $12.
The originally slated production of “Playing Doctor” by Beckwith Theatre Company is expected to be presented later in the season.
As they say in theater, “The show must go on!”
With his quick wit and commanding stage presence, Jay takes his audiences on a rollercoaster ride of laughs from the word go.
Incorporating a barrage of past and present “pop culture” references, zany stories and off-the-wall “one-liners,” you can’t help but laugh at this goofy, crazy and original talent.
Jay’s show pulls no punches and he refuses to sugar coat anything. He tells it the way it is, the way it was the way it should be! His ability to improv with audiences makes every show a unique experience. You never know what he’ll say next!
Cooper is also an accomplished comedy writer, with several jokes printed in Prevention and Maxim magazines. Cooper’s TV and radio credits include Comedy Central, Bob and Tom, Sirius and XM Satellite Radio and ESPN College Game Day.
Cooper has also been the opening act on tour for Smokey Robinson, The Righteous Brothers, Three Dog Night and The Beach Boys.
