Brandywine keeps title hopes alive

BRIDGMAN – The Brandywine soccer team stayed in the thick of the Lakeland Conference title chase with a 2-0 win over host Bridgman Tuesday night.

The Bobcats scored a goal in each half and held a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal despite a slow start.

“We played a sluggish first half,” Brandywine coach Evan Winkler said. “But we came out and played much better in the second half. Our intensity and ball control was better in the second half.

Brandywine (7-5-2, 5-1-1 Lakeland) got a goal from Nicole Newman in the 25th minute with an assist from Alexa Aguilar.

In the second half, Michaela Greer picked a goal off an assist from Kaley Jones in the 79th minute.

Carlie Newman was credited with three saves for the Bobcats.

Brandywine hosts Parchment and South Haven on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
