We have been betrayed and we know it

To the editor:

I simply cannot remain silent when reading such outlandish and biased drivel by your columnist Herb Phillipson in the May 4 DDN.

This is the column that lumped Timothy McVeigh, Osama bin Laden and the Tea Partiers together as “haters of our federal government and our American democratic system” – his words.

Demonstrators against our government’s policies also “have aspects of treason and disloyalty” – again, his words.

Yes, the socialist thugs now in Washington who have obtained power through slogans of idealism and change have much to fear from Tea Partiers and America in general.

We now know who and what you are, and your plans for a socialist America. We have been betrayed and we know it.

What really makes the Tea Partiers and America’s disenchantment such a great threat to the Washington establishment is the fact that – for the first time in modern political history – a movement has arisen that represents the producers and providers of this country, and not the perceived victims and users of “the system.”

We have bankrupted this nation, and are watching ever-greater chunks of power being seized by government. It has to be stopped and reversed.

Our two-party political system has a great opportunity this November to field fiscal and Constitutional conservatives to represent us.

The current socialist crowd will be stopped and ousted.

I note that even our current congressional representative is being challenged by a conservative opponent in the fall primary election. It’s a sign of the times. Yes, Herb, you and your socialist political allies have much to fear. And the ballot box is our weapon.
