The Dowagiac junior varsity golf team improved to 5-1 on the year with a win over visiting Three Rivers on Thursday at Hampshire Country Club.

The Chieftains defeated the Wildcats 195-218. Coloma, which was also scheduled to participate, did not compete.

Gaige Grant earned co-medalist as he led Dowagiac with a score of 46.

Three Rivers’ Scott Herndon also shot a 46 to share the top spot.

Joey Gajewski shot a 47 for the Chieftains, who also got a 50 from Brad Hornburg, a 52 from Jonathan Robinson, a 53 from Andrew Cripe and a 54 from Anthony Nelson.

Dowagic will be back in action on Monday as it takes on Lakeshore at Berrien Hills.

The Chieftain varsity golf squad is back to work today at the Comstock Jamboree.
