The Lake Michigan College chapter of Psi Beta, the national honor society for students in psychology at two-year colleges, inducted four students into the local chapter. The students, who were recognized at the College’s annual Honors Convocation on Monday, April 19, were:

Patricia Hoekstra – Union Pier
Lauren Midkiff – Coloma
Chari Pearso – Niles
Jasmine Robinson – Benton Harbor

Prospective Psi Beta members are selected on the basis of their academic performance in their psychology courses, as well as their overall achievements. Inducted members have an opportunity to present research papers at state and regional meetings and compete for national awards.

The LMC chapter of Psi Beta sponsors the publication of The Lake Michigan College Journal of Psychology, a journal of student research. According to Judith Buchalski, LMC psychology instructor and faculty sponsor for the group, LMC has one of only four active chapters of Psi Beta in Michigan.
