May June Darnell, 87, of Lewis Drive, Niles died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Riveridge Manor, Niles following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 30, 1922. She moved to Niles in 1970 from Galien. She owned a operated a restaurant. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and enjoyed composing poetry. Some of her poems were published.

May is preceded in death by a son, Louis “Jack” Darnell, who died in 2005.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Vain, of Charlotte, N.C. and a son, Thomas Darnell, of Mumford, Tenn.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the graveside. The family will lead some readings and share some memories.

Burial will be a Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

No public visitation will be offered.

Arrangements were made at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
