Dear editor:

I was told that the Niles Daily Star recently carried a letter or article attacking John Eby as a “flaming liberal.”

I know John and while he is somewhat to the left of his mother, he is very close in philosophy to his late father, Cass County Probate Judge Wilson G. Eby.

I knew Wilson well and he was never flamboyant. John, however, may strike some sparks and even start a fire but you may be assured that it will sputter and eventually go out in Berrien County.
