Visitor found motel ‘disgusting’

Dear editor:
Being a native of Niles, I was always fond of the city. My father was self-employed in Niles for many years and how proud he was of being from Niles .
On March 11, I traveled from to attend a funeral. How happy I was to get to see Niles again, but what I experienced leaves me with a heavy heart and full of disgust.
I decided to stay at the Niles Inn. I was directed to the back of the building and told to use a back door entrance. Getting out of my car I noticed a tremendous amount of litter all along the building. Upon entering, well, more litter in the hallway. It took my breath away – the filth. Upon entering there was a strong order of urine. It was very creepy. But I decided to stay as my time was full of obligations.
I opened the patio door and couldn’t see out of it due to dirty glass. Also, the door was bolted shut – gee, in case of fire – hum, no way out. I had paid for two days and the next day when coming back my bed had not been made with fresh linens, so I called and left. Upon returning once more that evening it still hadn’t been done so I went to front desk. I was told that housekeeping was gone and they couldn’t help.
I then asked for my money back and was told I could do that but would have to leave. I just couldn’t do that. I didn’t use the bathroom shower as I couldn’t walk on the floor barefoot. I also noticed outside room 127 on the hallway ceiling was water leakage and figured that was why no one was up there.
All in all it is the most disgusting place I have ever seen and how sad for Niles to have to represent this place.
The bar/dining area is closed and all pay phones were out of order. I also noticed the laundry room as I walked by and it needs to be reported to the local health department.
In my opinion, they are just doing bare-minimum to keep it going – forget about Niles and the people that stop there, which will never be me again, and how sad for the people who do.
