Book group to discuss ‘Wicked Plants’
Published 11:44 am Tuesday, February 23, 2010
Join the Fernwood book group in a discussion of “Wicked Plants,” Amy Stewart’s New York Times bestseller, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
A tree that sheds poison daggers, a glistening red seed that stops the heart, a shrub that causes paralysis, a vine that strangles and a leaf that triggered a war – Stewart takes on more than 200 of Mother Nature’s most appalling creations in an A to Z of plants that kill, maim, intoxicate and otherwise offend.
The Fernwood book group meets the last Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. A voluntary donation at each meeting will go toward purchasing new books for Fernwood’s library. You don’t have to read the book to join the discussion.
Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve is located near Buchanan at 13988 Range Line Rd., Niles. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Fernwood is closed Mondays.
