CASSOPOLIS – Don’t look now, but the Cassopolis girls’ basketball team is starting to put it together.
After a slow start, the Rangers squared their overall record at 6-6 Thursday night Cassopolis rallied in the second half to knock off visiting Berrien Springs 47-42 and earn a measure of revenge on the Shamrocks.
The win avenged a 39-24 loss to Berrien Springs back on Dec. 4.
The Shamrocks dominated the first half of play, leading 6-2 after one period of play and 22-12 at halftime.
But the Rangers turned things around in the second half, outscoring Berrien Springs 22-10 in the pivotal third quarter to take a 35-32 lead into the final eight minutes of play.
Again Cassopolis outscored its opponent, this time 12-10 to earn the five-point victory.
The Rangers’ Damonica Kelly scored a game-high 22 points, while Reese Ellison added nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Lela Broussard added eight points.
