CASSOPOLIS – The Midwest Energy Cooperative and Midwest Propane family of employees rallied to provide a little holiday cheer to soldiers serving overseas this Christmas season.
Working through the Adopt-A-Platoon organization, Midwest was paired with a platoon.
Departments across the organization were charged with donating items for a care package.
Chris Clark of Cassopolis, a Midwest lineman and Gulf War veteran, used his own experience to provide a list of suggested items to gather for the packages.
In total, Midwest shipped more than 600 pounds of donated food, hygiene and personal care items, games and other things to its platoon.
“I’m so proud of this company and my co-workers,” Clark said.
“This is going to mean a lot to this group of men and women serving away from their home and families this Christmas.”
Clark remembers the care packages he received from his co-workers at Midwest during his time of service in the Gulf region.
“People would flock around me when a Midwest care package arrived. My Midwest family took good care of me while I was away.”
Midwest Energy Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility providing electric distribution and an assortment of energy-related programs and services to more than 35,000 customers in 11 counties in southern Michigan and northern Indiana and Ohio.
