Bender wins 200th

BUCHANAN – The Buch-anan tennis team improved to 11-2-1 on Wednesday with a 5-3 win over visiting Paw Paw.

The win gave Buchanan coach Steve Bender his 200th career victory.

Bender in 22 seasons has a record of 20-16-8, which includes 16 conference titles, 14 regional championships, 10 undefeated seasons and 18 trips to the state finals.

Buchanan won the 2003 state championship under his direction and has been in the Final four on seven occasions.

The Bucks swept the doubles flights and earned one lone victory in singles competition as Derek Blank defeated Kevin Bain in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-4.
