Ruth Brockway / 1925-2009

Ruth Brockway, 84 of Katy, Texas, formerly of Niles, died on Thursday, July 17, after a brief and sudden illness.
A memorial service was held in Katy, Texas on Monday, July 20 at the City of Katy Social Services Center, where Ruth had become an active card playing member and friend to many.
A second memorial service will be held in Livonia, at a later date.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1925 to James Sandlin and Lela Irene Foutch on the family farm in Alexandria, Tenn.
She lived in Livonia, and Niles, before moving to Katy, Texas about four years ago.
She married Eugene “Gene” Brockway from Niles, in 1977, who preceded her in death.
A son, Mark Bernard, also preceded her in death, in 1976.
Surviving family include a son, Kenneth (Carol) Robinson of Katy, Texas; stepsons, John (Patty) Brockway of Grand Rapids; Kevin (Cathy) Brockway of Antioch, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Jodie (Tim) Wait of Brentwood, Tenn.; brother Tony Sandlin of Redford; sister, Jo Flatt of Sebastian, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She loved her family, enjoyed playing golf for many years, and put in thousands of hours over the years doing volunteer work at the former Pawating Hospital in Niles, and Memorial Hermann in Katy, Texas.
