CASSOPOLIS – Jared Hanstra, son of Thomas and Linda Hanstra of Niles, received a $500 college scholarship from Midwest Energy Cooperative,
Hanstra is a 2009 graduate of Edwardsburg High School and plans to begin studies this fall at the University of Notre Dame.
Four scholarships were awarded from 50 entries. Along with academic achievements, activities and honors, the students submitted a 250-word essay on what young adults can do too reduce their own carbon footprint.
