Visiting Portage Central defeated Dowagiac 12-3 and 5-0 in junior varsity softball on Wednesday.
Dowagiac had five hits in the first game led by Sierra Herter and Lorrin Arndt, both of whom doubled.
Dowgiac also got hits from Shelby Bruens, Brittany Parritt and Rylie Cox.
Bruens took the loss. She struck out five and gave up nine hits.
In the nightcap, the Chieftains finshed with just one hit.
Taylor Meiser took the loss despite allowing just four hits and striking out a pair.
Meiser also had the lone hit for Dowagiac.
