Role model visits Mt. Calvary

Niles continues to celebrate Black History Month as the Niles Branch NAACP and the Ferry Street School Community Resource Center present guest speaker attorney Andre Gammage, who will speak at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry St., tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.
Gammage is a graduate of Valparaiso University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 1985 and Valparaiso Law School where he went on to receive his law degree in 1988.
Through his career, Gammage has worked with the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office as Deputy Prosecutor, as well as the South Bend Human Rights Department and the St. Joseph County Public Defender's Office.
Gammage is now managing partner of his own private practice of Berger and Gammage, focusing primarily on criminal defense and personal injury.
An active member of his community, Gammage has served as Vice President of the South Bend Redevelopment Authority, a member of the Finance Committee for the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Board Chairman of the Urban League of St. Joseph County and is the co-founder of Leaders and Positive Role Models.
At Mt. Calvary on Thursday night, Gammage will speak on the theme: "Is there longevity in your legacy or is it dried up like a raisin in the sun?"
