SCHOOLCRAFT – The Brandywine wrestling team faces a tall order if it wants to get to Battle Creek.
The Bobcats will have to get through Mendon in the opening round and then face either host Schoolcraft or Bronson in the finals.
Brandywine defeated the Hornets 51-27 earlier this season.
Leading the way for the Bobcats are regional qualifiers Ralph Sater, Warren Watson – both district champions – Jimmie Wright, Bryon Fisher and Brad Ritchey.
Mendon is led by Nate Bowen and Jordan Higgins.
Bronson is ranked No. 9 in Division 4, while Schoolcraft (35-1) owns a win over the Bobcats from earlier in the season.
The Vikings had 10 wrestlers move on to the regional round, while the Eagles sent eight to this weekend's regional tournament.
It has been 11 years since the Bobcats have won a regional championship.
In 2007, Brandywine defeated Schoolcraft in the semifinals only to fall to Bronson (23-5) in the title match.
Wrestling will begin at 6 p.m. The finals will be held approximately 10 minutes after the completion of the last semifinal.
