Lady Rangers fall to Eddies in four

It took four sets for visiting Edwardsburg to knock off rival Cassopolis Wednesday night in Lakeland Conference action.
The Lady Rangers won the opening set 25-12 before the Lady Eddies took a pair of nail-bitters in sets two and three to take control of the match.
Edwardsburg won 26-24 in the second game and 25-23 in the third set.
It was all Edwardsburg in the finale, 25-14.
"The girls played a much better game defensively," Cassopolis coach Erica Boulanger said. "Our offense was not strong because of off passes. Overall we had a hard setting effort from Jessica Biek and Reva Ivens.
"Athena Hatcher stepped up her game on offense. I felt better transition and attitudes staying positive were the key to a much better match up," she added.
Edwardsburg got a dominating performance up front from Elise Mackling, Emily Kozinski and Christina Hans.
The trio combined for 27 digs and five blocks.
Mackling and Kozinski each had 11 kills, while Hans finished with nine kills.
The trio also had a combined 34 digs.
Amelia Breslin finished with 20 assists and nine digs. The Lady Eddies also got 13 assists, five digs and five aces from Jenn Mackling. Maddie Mueller finished with 29 digs and four aces for Edwardsburg, which is now 4-2 in the Lakeland and 13-13-3 overall.
Ivens finished with nine kills for the Lady Rangers, who also got eight kills from Hatcher. Ivens finished with a team-high 32 passes with Kasey Fosdick and Shirley Thomas contributing 19 and 17 passes respectively.
Biek had 18 assists to go along with a pair of kills and an ace.
