Yankees improve to 10-3 with win over Rangers

NILES – The Yankees improved to 10-3 with a 3-2 win over the Rangers in Greater Niles Little League Junior Division action at Thomas Stadium.
The Yankees scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory.
Dallas Munger, who singled, scored the go-ahead run. He also picked up the victory as he allowed one run on one hit.
Logan Harpenau had a double and two RBIs for the Yankees, who also got singles from Geordan Griffin and Seth Purucker.
Austin Searles took the loss for the Rangers, who dip to 7-4.
Alex Grishaber singled twice and drove in a run, while Timmy Mead had two hits. Also picking up hits for the Rangers were Evan Zimmerman, Christopher Mangus, Jacob Whitaker and Conrad Smallmon.

The Cubs scored eighth runs over the final three innings to improve to 5-10 on the season.
Cody Beers went the distance, allowing one run on four hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Zack Holt singled, tripled and drove in two runs, while Tyler Parish singled twice and drove in two runs. Dakota McDonald also had two hits. Beers doubled and Cody Taggert singled.
Jay Williams led the Astros (3-10) with a double. Tyler Bybee, Brad Millin and Brian Exner had the other three hits.
Millin suffered the loss.

A two-run seventh lifted the Rangers past the Astros.
Searles singled, doubled and drove in two runs, while Mangus had two singles, a double and a RBI. The Rangers also got two singles and a RBI from Grishaber and two singles from Matthew McLaughlin.
Zimmerman, Smallmon, Brody Grishaber and Zack Wilson added singles.
McLaughlin was the winning pitcher as he allowed three runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Bybee took the loss for the Astros.
Shawn Dudka singled and drove in two runs, while Millin singled, doubled and drove in a run. Sam Clark and Stuart Pearman both singled and picked up a RBI. Exner added a double. Bybee and Williams both singled.

A three-run fourth inning lifted the Giants past the Rangers.
Fritz Findieson singled twice and had three RBIs as the Giants improved to 8-6.
Matthew Toney, who was the winning pitcher, had three hits, while Nickolas Zimmerman and Zack Fillwock both singled and drove in a run.
David Tharp also had a single.
The Rangers were led by Mangus, who had a three-run home run, a double and finished the game with five RBIs.
Mead singled and drove in two runs, while Ethan Zimmerman added a double. Searles finished with two hits. McLaughlin and Evan Zimmerman both finished with singles.
Smallmon took the loss on the mound.

A pair of four-run innings helped the Cubs get past the Indians.
Taggert allowed three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in picking up the win for the Cubs.
Trevor Kizer singled and drove in a pair, while Beers tripled. McDonald and Kelan McKnight both singled and were credited with a RBI.
Jeremy Becker singled and drove in a pair for the Indians, who also got a double from Courtlan Gordon.
Steve Cabe and Brian Kline each added a single.
Cabe took the loss.

A four-run third inning was just enough for the Giants, who held on for the victory.
Fillwock earned the victory, as well as delivering a triple at the plate.
Brendon Keen singled twice and drove in two runs for the Giants. David Tharp had a double an a RBI, while Alec Landon singled twice and drove in a run.
Randy Wagner singled and picked up a RBI.
Nickolas Zimmerman and Casey Burandt both finished with singles.
Zack Webber had a single and two RBIs for the Yankees, who also got two singles and a double from Munger.
Purucker, who took the loss, doubled and drove in a run. Harpenau tripled and Steven Richards singled.

The Giants scored five runs in the first and fourth innings and then held on as the Cubs scored eight runs in the final two innings.
Toney struck out four in picking up the win.
Landon singled, doubled and drove in four runs. Burandt singled twice and dove in two runs, while Fillwock singled and drove in a pair.
Tharp also had two hits for the Giants. Toney and Tyler Damouth both had a single.
Beers had two singles, a double and three RBIs in a losing effort for the Cubs. He also took the loss despite five strikeouts.
McDonald singled twice an picked up a RBI, while Parish, Kizer and Holt all singled and drove in a run.
Casey Cochran added a double and McKnight a single.

The Indians scored four times in the top of the 10th inning to pull out the victory.
Jason Andrews allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts in picking up the victory.
Mike Schoeleber singled, tripled and drove in two runs. Tyler Fisher and Patrick Van Kirk both singled and had two RBIs, while Jason Andrews had three hits and a RBI.
Gordon singled and drove in a run.
Bybee had three hits and four RBIs for the Astros, who also got two singles and two RBIs from Clark.
Millin and Exner both singled twice and doubled. Williams added a single and a double. Zack Clingenpeel, Pearman and James Krause all singled.
Exner suffered the loss.

The Rangers scored 13 runs in the final three innings in picking up the victory.
Searles allowed one run on two hits in earning the victory.
Mangus had two triples and three RBIs, while Grishaber had two hits and three RBIs. Chanc Ravish added a double and Wilson two singles.
Millin tripled and drove in a run for the Astros, who also got a single a double from Williams and singles from Josh Youngman, Dudka, Clark and Clingenpeel.
Dudka took the loss on the mound.

Purucker allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts as he earned the win for the Yankees.
Dylan King had two singles, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Yankees offensively. Munger singled, doubled and drove in a run, while Harpenau added a double. Griffin finished with two hits.
Kline, Jordan Harper, Andrews, Schoenleber and Gordon all had hits for the Indians. Schoenleber suffered the loss.
