Dowagiac man killed

ST. JOSEPH – A Dowagiac man lost his life in a double-fatality car-motorcycle accident at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, on Naomi Road at Hochberger Road in Pipestone Township.
Sgt. James D. Zehm of the Berrien County Sheriff's Office reported that the 911 center received a phone call reporting the crash at the intersection.
Responding deputies arrived on scene to find that a northbound vehicle on Hochberger Road possibly failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a motorcycle traveling east on Naomi Road.
The driver of the vehicle, Elester Williams, 52, of Dowagiac, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The motorcycle rider, Michael Masterov, 40, of Eau Claire, was taken to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph and later pronounced dead from multiple injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Berrien County Accident Reconstruction Team to determine the cause.
