NILES _ The Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated their 11th grand opening Friday, at Studio 224, at 224 N. Main St. along with city officials and even visitors from South Haven and St. Joseph.
Owner Shannon Frame said she knew one day she would own her own salon. Thanks to time and place, be it fate or destiny, "it was a little sooner than I expected," she said.
Frame had worked in the same building when the salon was under a different name and different ownership. She credited her husband especially for helping support her when the opportunity came for her to take ownership of the salon.
A graduate of Twin City Beauty College, Frame remodeled the interior. It is equipped with four styling stations and a coffee bar. Inside, warm oranges and a deep purple create a warm and calming atmosphere.
"I want to provide a welcoming environment for the clients," Frame said.
"I think you have a real passion for this business," said Ron Sather, president and CEO of the chamber.
Frame said she envisions Studio 224 as an "upscale salon." In addition to hair styling and coloring, the salon's services include children's parties – where little girls can enjoy their own salon experience and have their nails painted, their hair done. Studio 224 also offers Japanese straightening, facial waxing and hand masks.
Coloring, Fame said, is her passion. In September, she'll be at the Redken Institute in New York to become a certified specialist.
"It's a great asset to the community," said Lisa Croteau of Niles Main Street.
"You say that you believe things happen for a reason," said City Administrator Terry Eull. "I also believe that."
Frame was appreciative and gracious to those who attended the grand opening. Along with stylists Tina Jeschke and Aimee Murdock, Frame seems poised to build a strong client base and determined to give them a good experience at Studio 224. For appointments, call 683-4923.
