MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Indiana Metro's power hitting offense was more than the Michigan All-Star volleyball team could handle Thursday evening at Weikamp gym on the campus of Bethel College in the championship match of Sports Fest 2008.
Metro polished off Michigan in a three game set 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.
The star studded Metro team used their hard hitting offensive attack to take the commanding win.
Five of the talented members on the Indiana team will be moving on to Division 1 college level play this fall.
"I was excited and I thought it was a good opportunity for the girls to see a lot of good Indiana players," Michigan coach Sarah Cichowicz of Edwardsburg said following the match. "We had our moments and we represented decently and they (Metro) were a great team. This was fun and it was interesting to get to know all the girls and a fun experience for the athletes to pull together the best athletes in your area and it's a good opportunity."
Michigan was represented by Niles' Sam Brawley and Brittany Wolverton, Buchanan's Emily Ross, Evie Tafunai and Stephanie Koontz of Edwardsburg, Allison Frontczak of Dowagiac, Jodi Gradholm from River Valley, Ellie Lyman of Bridgman and Chelsea Barrett of Coloma.
