BERRIEN SPRINGS – Museum curator Robert Myers will present a PowerPoint program, "Pioneers of the Sky," at The History Center at Courthouse Square in Berrien Springs tonight at 6:30 p.m. The program is part of the History Center's "Thursdays at the Museum" program series.
The program will be held at the History Center (1839 Courthouse Museum) on Cass Street in Berrien Springs.
Admission is free.
"Pioneers of the Sky" presents the early history of aviation.
Dozens of would-be aviators tinkered with flying machines, but it was the two bicycle makers from Dayton, Ohio, who finally solved the challenge of flight.
A special section of the program focuses on St. Joseph's own Augustus Herring and his attempts at powered flight on Silver Beach in 1898.
