A’s defeat Dowagiac 15-7 in Senior play

NILES – The Greater Niles Little League Senior Division A's defeated Dowagiac on Monday 15-7.
A seven-run sixth inning proved to be the difference for the A's.
Kyle Ballge was the winning pitcher as he scattered six hits and struck out one.
Ryne Willming took the loss for Dowagiac. He allowed five runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
Ricky Briand hit a home run, singled and drove in three runs for the A's. Rashad Harris had four hits and a RBI, while Tommy Flynn singled and drove in two runs.
The A's also got a double and a RBI from Derek Nichols and a single from Joe Godfrey.
Mike Bennett doubled twice and drove in a run for Dowagiac, which also got a single, a double and a RBI from Jason Turner.
Ryne Lindsey also doubled and Seth Engler tripled. Darius Wilson singled and drove in a run for Dowagiac.

Dowagiac scored seven runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Tigers in Senior Division play on Monday.
Cal Cox was the winning pitcher as he tossed a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks.
Matt Thompson took the loss for the Tigers. He struck out six and walked just one.
Turner had a pair of doubles and three RBIs for Dowagiac, which also got a single and a double from Lindsey.
Cox and Mike Pranschke both singled and drove in a run, while Chris Gantt had two hits.
Gage Ratkay and Thompson had the two hits for the Tigers.
Niles Classic
Norwood (Ind.) captured first place in the Niles Classic over the weekend at Thomas Stadium.
Niles finished second with Three Oaks taking third, Bristol (Ind.) finishing fourth, Mishawaka (Ind.) finishing fifth and South Bend (Ind.) finishing sixth.
Rounding out the field were St. Joseph in seventh and the Manbearpigs eighth.
Norwood defeated Niles 13-3, Niles defeated Bristol 3-1, St. Joseph defeated Niles 10-7, St. Joseph blanked the Manbearpigs, South Bend Post 50 defeated the Manbearpigs 12-5 and Three Oaks Post 204 defeated the Manbearpigs 11-3.
For Niles against Norwood, Andrew Brawley had two hits, while Rashad Harris, Mikie Simpson and Kevin Gross all singled. Ricky Briand had a solo home run.
Dustin Purcell was the losing pitcher.
Against St. Joseph, Simpson had a single and a solo home run, while Gross and Briand both doubled. Niles also got two hits from Alec Taylor and singles from Aaron Davis, David Garner (losing pitcher), Brawley, Asaad Ali and Harris.
The Manbearpigs had just one hit against St. Joseph, a single by Shane Bankston.
Kyle King took the loss on the mound.
Against South Bend, Brad Ritchey suffered the loss. Nichols had a single and a double, while Matt Ritchey also doubled. Dominique Pompey had two singles.
Also collecting hits were Dustin Bell, Bankston and Jesse McCombs.
In the loss to Post 204, the Manbearpigs had five hits, led by Brad Ritchey's double. Bankston finished with two singles, while Pompey and Matt Ritchey also had hits.
Jesse McCombs took the loss. Former Niles pitcher Jake Ferguson picked up the win for Three Oaks. Zach Bloss had a pair of singles and a RBI.

Indians…7
The Indians (5-5) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Cubs in Greater Niles Little League Junior Division action.
Jordan Harper picked up the win as he allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
Kelan McKnight took the loss.
Patrick Van Kirk had a pair of hits and three RBIs for the Indians, who also got a double from Tyler Fisher. Sean Morgan drove in the winning runs with a single. Brian Kline scored the game-winner.
Cody Beers had two singles, a double and three RBIs for the Cubs (3-7). Issac Rosenthal singled and drove in a run, while Keith Jann Jr. and Tyler Parrish also had hits.

Yankees…4
A five-run sixth inning lifted the Giants past the Yankees in Junior Division action.
Casey Burandt allowed two hits in earning the victory for the Giants, who are now 5-4.
Dallas Munger took the loss for the Yankees (4-3).
Randy Wagner had a double, single and a RBI for the Giants, who also got two hits an a RBI from Alec Landon.
Matthew Toney doubled and drove in a run. Also picking up hits were Zack Fillwock, Josh Alphenaar and Nicholas Zimmerman.
The Yankees got singles and RBIs from both Zack Weber and Geordan Griffin. Logan Harpenau added a single.
