James ‘Jim’ Earle Perham / 1951-2008

James "Jim" Earle Perham, 56, of North Fifth Street in Niles, died at his home on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, with his wife by his side.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, at Brown Funeral Home &Cremation Services of Niles from 6 to 7 p.m. with the funeral starting at 7 p.m.
He was born on July 20, 1951, to Jack Sr. and Margaret (Dittmar) Perham in South Bend, Ind. He was one of three children growing up in the Perham household.
After graduating from Niles High School, he attended college for a few years. On May 5, 1982, he wed the love of his life, Sharlyne Day, at a ceremony in Niles.
After being a competitive athlete and body builder for most of his life, in 1983, Jim decided to open Body Works Health and Fitness Center in Niles. He owned and operated the business until it closed in late 2006. He was a Rocket Football coach and spent most of his time outdoors. He was an excellent craftsman, creative cook and an avid Notre Dame fan. He loved golfing and fishing which often led to many hours of stories that he enjoyed telling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sharlyne, step-daughter Sherrie Buchanan of Battle Creek, two grandchildren; a sister, Ruthanne (Les) Tom of Niles and a brother, Jack Perham Jr. of Niles.
