Bell strikes out 13 as Reds pick up win

NILES – Dustin Bell struck out 13 and tossed a one-hitter with no walks as the Reds blanked the Tigers 10-0 in Greater Niles Little League Senior Division play at Thomas Stadium.
Nate Oates singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Reds, while Kevin Gross had three hits and two RBIs. The Reds also got a single, a double and a RBI from Bell and a double from Brent Gillispie.
Joe and Kody Stroud both added hits for the Reds.
Aaron Grooms had the lone hit for the Tigers. Wayne Marazita took the loss as he gave up for runs on three hits with two strikeouts.

Ricky Briand singled, doubled and drove in four runs for the A's, who won their first game of the season.
Derek Nichols also had a single and a double, while Rashad Harris added two hits and a RBI. The A's also got hits from Casey Durenek, Tom Flynn, Tyler Mead and Zach Gerber.
The Tigers were led by Marazita and Jon Norton, both of whom had two hits. Robby Legus added a single.
Sam Whitaker took the loss for the Tigers.

Marazita struck out 10 and allowed just four hits in earning the victory.
Marazita doubled and drove in two runs for the Tigers, who also got a double from Zeke Legus and two hits from John Carey.
Gage Ratkay and Matt Thompson also had hits for the Tigers.
Flynn took the loss.
The A's were led offensively by Briand with a triple. Kyle Blogey had a single and two RBIs, while Nichols, Harris and Durenek all had singles.

The Astros picked up their second win of the season in Junior Division action.
Sam Clark tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts for the Astros (2-4).
Brad Millen doubled and drove in two runs, while Jay Williams had two hits and two RBIs. Robert Hutton added a single and two RBIs for the Astros, who also got singles from Tyler Bybee and Shawn Dudka.
Tyler Parrish doubled and drove in a run for the Cubs, who fell to 3-6. Dakota McDonald also doubled, while Zack Holt had two singles.
Cody Taggert, who took the loss, had a single and a RBI. Keith Jann Jr. added a hit.

A six-run fifth inning lifted the Indians to victory.
Jason Andrews picked up the win in relief of starter Patrick Van Kirk. Andrews did not allow a hit and struck out four.
Brian Kline singled home the winning run for the Indians, who are 4-5 on the year.
Van Kirk had a double, while Mike Schoenleber had a single and two RBIs and Andrews a single and a RBI.
Alec Landon doubled and drove in a run for the Giants (4-4), while David Tharp had a single and a RBI. Nicholas Zimmerman and Randy Wagner both had hits.
Matthew Toney suffered the loss.

Evan Zimmerman struck out six and allowed two hits to earn the win for the Rangers.
He also had an inside-the-park home run.
Austin Searles had two singles, a double and four RBIs for the Rangers, who also got a double and two RBIs from Chanc Ravish.
Jacob Whitaker, Tim Mead and Conrad Smallmon all singled and drove in a run, while Brody Grishaber finished with two hits.
The Indians were led offensively by Tyler Fisher with a double. Josh Bell had the other hit for the Indians, whose lone run was scored by Jason Andrews.
Schoenleber took the loss.

In a continued game from May 30, the Yankees scored four runs in the first, third and fourth innings to earn the victory.
Taylor Purucker struck out three and gave up two hits to earn the victory.
Zach Weber singled, doubled, tripled and drove in a run to pace the Yankees, who also got two hits and two RBIs from Dylan King.
Dallas Munger had two hits and a RBI, while Donte Stevens singled and drove in two runs.
Purucker singled and drove in a run, while Ben Getz added a hit.
Cody Beers and McDonald both singled and drove in runs for the Cubs. Also picking up hits were Parrish and Trevor Kizer.
Taggert took the loss.
