BENTON TOWNSHIP – Will Terry of Benton Harbor earned best of show honors in the 2008 Lake Michigan College Student Art Competition for his drawing entitled "Stormy." A total of 22 students were recognized for their entries into this annual competition, which represents an entire year of student work that is evaluated and presented with awards.
"Every year, I approach the Annual Student Art Exhibit with the same anxious question, 'Will this year's exhibit meet the previous year's strengths?'," explained Ken Schaber, head of the LMC art department. "And once again, I see that it has; and in its own unique way, has excelled. Our students invest hundreds of hours honing their skills to meet this level of quality. I congratulate our students and Art faculty, who worked with the students, for their success," he added.
The LMC Fine Arts Club sponsors the annual Student Art Competition, which is juried by an external professional artist each year. This year's judge was Terry Pfliger. Pfliger holds a Master's of Fine Arts degree from Western Michigan University.
