BROOKLYN – "Creating lasting memories for every person, every time" is a long-standing commitment Michigan International Speedway has made to its fans.
For the June 13-15 LifeLock 400 race weekend, the commitment to create memories will be taken up a notch.
To celebrate Michigan International Speedway's 40th anniversary, SPEED channel and MIS are allowing race fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into a working NASCAR garage.
The first 500 race fans to stop by the MIS ticket booth adjacent to the SPEED stage on Friday, June 13 will receive a free NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage pass. Passes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ticket booth will open at 9 a.m.; the garage gate will open at 3:15 p.m.
The autograph session with some of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers will take place in the garage from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. behind participating drivers' transporters.
"This is the first time we have had the opportunity to allow our fans this type of experience. These passes can't be bought," track President Roger Curtis said. "Many other tracks do not allow fans anywhere near the garages, and we are letting 500 people in. We hope that by allowing our fans this experience we will achieve our goals of creating those lasting memories at Michigan International Speedway."
No purchase is necessary for a garage pass; however, participants must have a valid grandstand ticket for that day and must be wearing appropriate attire.
No open-toe shoes, sleeveless shirts or shorts will be allowed in the garage. Grandstand ticket or infield wristband must accompany this pass.
Children 12 and under do not require a grandstand ticket or wristband for entry however, they must be accompanied by an adult.
Fans may take a special infield tram to the garage area starting around 2:30 p.m. The tram pick-up location will be in the infield where pedestrians exit the vehicular tunnel. The garage entrance is in the infield at gate 55-A.
For its 40th anniversary in 2008, MIS is hosting the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock 400 on June 15 and the 3M Performance 400 on Aug. 17.
Other events include the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Cool City Customs 200 on June 14, the NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 August 16 and the ARCA RE/MAX Series Michigan 200 June 13. Tickets are available for all events, including qualifying days.
