Catch the reading bug this summer

NILES – The Niles District Library's Summer Reading program begins on June 2 and ends on July 26.
Weekly Story times are on Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. All ages are welcome.
The themes for each week are as follows:
June 2, – "Catch the Reading Bug";
June 9, – Is This Room Bugged?";
June 16, -"Don't Get the Flu Bug";
June 23, – "Stop Bugging Me";
June 30, – "What's a Doodle Bug?";
July 7, – "Oh, No, Bed Bugs!";
July 14, – "Do You Have the Acting Bug?";
the final week of July 21 – "Bottle of Bugs".
Squigglers will continue to meet on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
Every week there are crafts for the older kids with mazes and puzzles given away after every story time.
Three Brain Puzzles every week for all ages and abilities. All the correct answers go into a drawing for weekly winners.
The Calendar Check-in Weeks for Kids are June 16-21, June 30-July 5 and July 21-26. Special drawings will be held on June 21 and July 5. The Calendar Check-in Weeks for Teens and Adults will be June 23-28, July 7-12 and July 21-26 with special drawings on June 28 and July 12.
The Scholastic Book Fair will run from June 16 to June 21. Buy one book, get another book of lesser value for free.
The reading prizes for kids will be given away every hour and include: a bookmark and eraser, a door hanger and tattoo, stickers and a spider, a beetle and a bug on a string, a book bag and pencil, a bug ring and kick ball, a ladybug and picture frame, a bug net and binoculars, a puppet and notepad and puzzle cube. For teens there will be food coupons given away every two hours for 12 hours. For adult readers, books will be given away every five hours for up to 20 hours.
The grand finale will be held at the Niles District Library on Wednesday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m. with Magic Man, Steve Compoe, live and in person. Grand Prizes will be awarded during this program.
