Woman, 85, stabbed to death

EDWARDSBURG – A 85-year-old woman died after being stabbed in Mason Township.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports his office is investigating the death of Margaret Bosworth, 85, of the 20000 block of Grange Street in Mason Township, near Edwardsburg.
At approximately 5:17 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, Cass County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from this residence after a family member found the victim unresponsive.
Porter Township ambulance was dispatched to this residence along with Oslo paramedics.
Paramedics then transported the victim to Elkhart, Ind., General Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
It was at this time that wounds were discovered on the body that led hospital officials and the Elkhart County Coroner to suspect foul play.
Officials then contacted Cass County sheriff's deputies who, after activating the Cass County Major Crimes Task Force, began an investigation into the incident.
Investigators uncovered evidence on the body of the victim and at the scene that led to their determination that the victim had been stabbed multiple times and received other wounds that may have led to her death.
An exact cause of death will remain unknown until a scheduled autopsy is performed in the upcoming days in Elkhart, Ind.
In the course of this investigation Major Crimes detectives gained information and evidence that led to the arrest of a female subject from Elkhart for the murder of the victim.
The suspect was taken into custody by the Elkhart Police Department at approximately 11:42 p.m. on May 17 and was being held on a Cass County felony open murder warrant in the Elkhart County Jail, where she is awaiting extradition to Michigan.
The suspect's name as well as additional information will be released after legal proceedings for extradition to Michigan.
This investigation is ongoing.
