Traffic stop nets 110 pounds marijuana

SAINT JOSEPH – A traffic stop in Berrien County led to the discovery of two large duffle bags containing approximately 110 poounds of marijuna, with a street value of $110,000.
On Thursday, May 8, Michigan State Police Tropper Jim Gillespie stopped a Jeep Commander on I-94, near I-196, for following too close and improper lane usage.
After receiving a consent to search the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was found coming from the duffle bags in the back seat.
The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and lodged in the Berrien County Jail on a charge of possession with intent to deliver.
The driver was a 60-year-old male from Farmington Hills and the passenger a 50-year-old male from Detroit.
CASSOPOLIS – The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team (CCDET) reports that on Tuesday, May 6, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed in the 2300 block of Bell Road in Milton Township.
The CCDET, acting in conjunction with the Berrien County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, received information that a 25-year-old Milton Township man was in possession of a large quantity of marijuana.
Drug detectives located the man and his vehicle and followed a short distance into St. Joseph County, Ind.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department observed the vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop.
A search of the vehicle located several pounds of marijuana.
At this time a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle owner's Bell Road residence in Milton Township.
During the search of the residence, detectives located a large amount of marijuana weighing more than 12 pounds, which has a street value in excess of $19,000.
Also seized from the Milton township home were a large amount of cash and guns..
A 49-year-old Milton township male was arrested for resisting and obstructing police during the search warrant and was lodged at the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis.
The second arrest was the 25-year old-male resident of the Bell Road address. He was lodged for numerous drug and traffic related offenses in the St. Joseph County, Ind., Jail. Drug and weapons charges are pending in Cass County.
This incident remains under investigation.
