A special land use permit approved Monday night by Dowagiac Planning Commission allows Keith Fenech to relocate his existing auto repair business from 604 N. Front St. at Sheldon to an existing warehouse at 700 Percy St. owned by Verizon Inc., 202 W. Division St.
The property is zoned for heavy industry.
"Auto repair facilities are an allowed use as a special land use in that zone," Building Inspector James Bradford said.
All vehicles awaiting repair will be parked in a screened area, obscured from view. His dumpster will also be enclosed.
Mayor Don Lyons conducted the meeting in the absence of Chairman Bob Frontczak and Vice Chairman Dale Hutchings.
