NILES – If you are a brand-new genealogist or want to be one, this is a great place to learn the basics of hunting for ancestors.
How to get started in family history, what steps to take next, and answers to puzzling questions: all are tackled by our very experienced speaker, Toni Benson. You will go away with several handouts that will come in handy as you begin or continue your very own exciting trip back into the history of your family.
There will be time for questions at the end of the program.
Toni Benson has been the Local History librarian for the Van Buren District Library for the past 13 years and is vice-president and past-president of the Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society.
She has compiled several books for publication and was one of the lead editors of Van Buren County, Michigan: a Pictorial History published in 2003. A professional genealogist, Benson has been doing research for 26 years and has been a speaker on a wide variety of related topics.
This is a free workshop but we are requesting that you pre-register by calling the Local History Room at 269-683-8545 ext. 7.
