Niles softball team’s win streak now at 12 straight games

ST. JOSEPH – It's not tough to figure out the team earned run average of the Niles varsity softball team.
You don't have to be a math major to figure out that it's zero.
The Lady Vikings swept a Big 16 Conference West Division doubleheader from host St. Joseph on Wednesday, blanking the Lady Bears in both games.
Niles defeated St. Joseph 4-0 and 11-0 to remain undefeated on the season. The Lady Vikings have not allowed a run yet in 2008.
Jenna Ignowski struck out 14 in the opening game and tossed a three-hits as Niles opened up West Division play.
The Lady Viking finished with 10 hits in the game, including a home run by Karly Kennedy, who drove in three runs.
Nellie Coquillard, Shelley Aurand and Heather Daniels all finished with two hits.
In the second game, Ignowski struck out 12 and tossed her seventh no-hitter of the season.
Offensively, Niles banged out 19 hits, including a home run by Ignowski. She also had three singles and three RBIs.
Maggie Ernsberger finished with a double, three singles and four RBIs, while Aurand had a single, a double and two RBIs.
Niles also got two hits from Coquillard and doubles from Brittney Buti and Daniels.
