One might think it would be hard to score 34 runs with just 15 hits, but that wasn't the case for the Dowagiac junior varsity softball team on Tuesday.
The Chieftains scored 15 runs in the opening game on just three hits as they were able to take advantage of walks and errors by visiting Allegan in a 15-0 victory.
In the second game, Dowagiac had 12 hits and 19 runs in a 19-2 win.
"The girls played really well tonight," Dowagiac coach Kim Wedde said. "Our defense has improved as well as our pitching. It was nice to see all of the girls contributing at some point during the game. We are starting to function well as a team."
Taylor Gross struck out five and tossed a no-hitter for the Chieftains in the opener. Brittany Parritt struck out four to win the nightcap.
Abbigail Gnatz, Brooke Smith and Kiele Belew had the Dowagiac hits in the first game.
In the second contest, Kortney Huston and Smith both singled and doubled. Marneasa Short and Gnatz each had two hits.
Sierra Starrett and Parritt both doubled.
