WATERVLIET – Despite cold, wet and windy conditions, the Berrien Springs boys' and girls' track teams both took first place at the Watervliet Relays.
The Shamrock boys' squad easily outdistanced runner-up Watervliet. Berrien Springs amassed 90 points compared to just 58 for the host Panthers.
Bridgman was third with 44 points and Brandywine fourth with 44 points. Buchanan was fifth (37), Hartford sixth (34), New Buffalo seventh (26), Eau Claire eighth (25), Bloomingdale ninth (9) and River Valley 10th (3).
The Lady Shamrocks scored 95 points to finish ahead of Buchanan, which had 78 points.
Watervliet was third (58), while River Valley and Hartford tied for fourth with 34 points each. Bridgman was sixth (30), New Buffalo seventh (27), Brandywine eighth (6) and Eau Claire ninth (4).
Buchanan picked up a pair of first place finishes in the boy's portion of the event.
Clinton Orr and Ritchie Reed won both the high jump and long jump relays.
The two combines for a distance of 11-foot-1 in the high jump and 36-9 in the long jump.
Brandywine picked up a first place finish in the 400-meter relay as Chris Ott, Josh Benjamin, Brett Gilpin and David Diekema were closed at 47.03.
