Iona L. Churchill, 97, formerly of Eagle Street, Niles, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at North Ottawa Care Center, Grand Haven, following a brief illness.
The family will gather privately for services. There will be no visitation.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1910, in Michigan City, Ind. to Otto B. Pressnall and Effa (Ott) Pressnall.
She lived in Niles most of her life and graduated from Niles High School, where she was captain of her high school girls' basketball team.
She had previously been employed in the 1950s at National Tea Grocery Store in Niles.
She enjoyed crochet and all housekeeping skills and arts. She also bowled in area leagues.
On Oct. 10, 1931, in South Bend, Ind., she married Howard Glenn Churchill. He died in 1984.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Aloeth Hensler, who died March 12, 2003; a granddaughter, who died in 2002; three sisters, Geraldine McCarty, Edna Krueger and Thelma Lauder and three brothers, Douglas Pressnall, Raymond Pressnell and Blair Pressnall.
Surviving family includes a daughter, Sharon (Larry) McLauchlin of Grand Haven; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials made to made to the donor's choice or Hospice at Home.
Arrangements were by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
