THREE OAKS – The League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties is pleased to announce it is receiving a grant of $5,000 from the Pokagon Fund to support its election year "get out the vote/voter education initiative."
The League is very grateful to the Pokagon Fund and pleased that they share the League's belief that informed citizens who vote are critical to our democracy.
The League's Spring Speakers Series is part of this election-year initiative and will focus on voter education.
Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Weaver has agreed to participate in a May 7 panel discussion on the Public Financing of Elections in Michigan, with an emphasis on judicial elections, including Supreme Court elections.
With her on the panel will be Rich Robinson, director of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network, and Clifford Arnebeck, an election expert from Ohio.
The second Spring Speakers Series meeting will be in late April and will focus on political issues of particular interest to senior citizens.
Both meetings are scheduled for the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks.
