CASSOPOLIS – A recount Monday morning by the Cass County Board of Canvassers changed the total in Tim Swenor's Nov. 6 recall from Cassopolis Village Council by one vote.
The four-member Board of Canvassers certified Swenor's recall by a new margin of 169 yes to 160 no, compared to the previous tally of 169 yes to 159 no.
County Clerk-Register Barb Wilson said the election for Swenor's replacement will either be with the Jan. 15 presidential primary or, if that falls through, on the Feb. 26, 2008, ballot.
Candidates for Swenor's position must turn in their nominating petitions to LaGrange Township Clerk Amy Juroff by this Friday, Nov. 23, at 4 p.m., Wilson said Monday afternoon.
