NILES – The Niles Costume Contest at Your Library will take place Saturday, Oct. 27. Parents and children may come to the library's children's department to pre-register for the contest. Participants may also register the day of the event beginning at 2:30 pm.The parade and judging will begin at 2:45 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 3:45.
Costume categories are: Cutest; Scariest; Funniest and Book Characters. An award for each category will be given in each age division. Age divisions are zero to four-year-olds; five to eight-year-olds and nine to 12-year-olds.Each winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to a book store. In addition to costume awards, there will be prize drawings throughout the afternoon.
The event is followed by Downtown Safe Trick or Treat from 4 to 5 p.m. in Downtown Niles between Front and Fifth streets.
