Child approached in store restroom

NILES – A male subject allegedly attempted to solicit a young boy for immoral purposes in one of the bathrooms at the Wal-Mart store in Niles on Saturday at approximately 3:33 p.m.
According to a press release issued by the Michigan State Police, the child contacted his mother after the incident, who then contacted store personnel. The store contacted the police.
A trooper from the Niles post, along with deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff's Department, responded to the scene.
After interviewing several subjects at the scene, a male subject was arrested on the charge of accosting a child for immoral purposes. He was lodged at the Niles Law Enforcement Complex.
Attempts to contact Wal-Mart's home office were made, however, no calls were returned.
The male subject is being arraigned today and further details about the case will be released after his arraignment.
