Berrien Fair deadlines quickly approaching

BERRIEN SPRINGS – As the 62nd annual Berrien County Youth Fair approaches, here is your reminder of the many deadlines that are this Wednesday, Aug. 1. Still exhibits for youth registration are due Wednesday, including horticulture, flowers, home economics, and arts and crafts departments. Exhibitor Handbooks and registration forms are available at all Berrien County public libraries and the Fair Office. Registrations must be received by Aug. 1 in person, by fax, or must be post-marked by Aug. 1 if they are sent by mail. Youth exhibitors must be age 5-20 years old.
Aug. 1 is also the deadline for the 1957 &Older Farm Stock Tractor Pulling Contest. This contest is open to Berrien County residents only, with a limit of ten tractors per class, and tractors must be stock with no attachments or implements. A complete set of rules is available in the 2007 Exhibitor Handbook.
The deadline for entries for the Baked Fruit Pie contest is also Aug. 1. Entry forms and guidelines are available at the Fair Office and on-line at www.bcyf.org. The Youth Division is for Berrien County residents ages 12-21 and the Adult Division is for ages 22 and older. Contestants can enter up to two pies and winners will be awarded with trophies, ribbons, and prizes from local businesses. Each contestant receives a participant ribbon and a Taste of Home cookbook.
The Fair Office is located at 9122 Old U.S. 31, Berrien Springs. Office hours July 30, 31, and Aug. 1 are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The fair also has a drop box outside the office where Exhibitor Handbooks and registration forms can be picked up and dropped off after hours.
