Real Dowagiac, Kickers advance to title match

DOWAGIAC – Regular season champion Real Dowagiac will take on perennial area soccer powerhouse the St. Joe Kickers for the Blossomland Cup.
Both teams advanced to Sunday's finals with wins Thursday night.
Real Dowagiac edged Dura Mold FC 2-1 in overtime at Southwestern Michigan College, while the Kickers defeated P&R FC 3-1 at the Kickers Club in Arden.
The Kickers are the defending league champions. St. Joe edged Whirlpool United 2-1 in the title game in 2006.
Real Dowagiac was the regular season champion last season as well, but was upset in the first round of the Blossomland Cup.
The Kickers were the runners-up for the second straight year.
St. Joe won the inaugural Blossomland championship in 2004.
The title match is slated for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kickers Club. The consolation match between Dura Mold and P&R will be played at 1 p.m.

Rodolfo Hernandez and Freddy Soto both scored for Real Dowagiac (11-0-2).
Mike McCoy scored the lone goal for Dura Mold (6-6-1).

Shane Rasch, Andrew Pyzik and Nick Sherrill found the back of the net for the Kickers (11-1-1).
Terry Wakefield had the only goal for P&R (8-5).
