Lakeshore advances with win over Vikes

STEVENSVILLE – The Lakeshore baseball team picked up a 7-2 win in Tuesday's opening game of the Division 2 District Tournament against Niles.
The win advances the Lancers (24-9) to Saturday's semifinal game against St. Joseph at 10 a.m.
Niles' season was ended with a 14-17 record.
The third inning proved to be the downfall for the Vikes defensively as they allowed the Lancers to score four runs.
Niles responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, but Lakeshore held onto the lead and added another run in the fourth inning and two runs in the seventh.
The Vikes' only other run came in the sixth.
Nick Wheeler took the win on the mound for Lakeshore, while Jake Ferguson suffered the loss for Niles.
At the plate, Dustin Anderson had a home run for the Viking's, as did Zane Metz of Lakeshore.
