NILES – Niles' varsity softball team hosted Hartford Saturday afternoon and handed the visitors a 2-1 and 10-0 loss.
Top hitters on the day were Heather Daniels with a double, a homerun and three RBIs. Karly Kennedy had two singles and two RBIs, Patty Anton had a single with two RBIs and Stephanie Stoops, Shelley Aurand and Nicole Ignowski all had singles.
Jenna Ignowski took the win in the circle in both games, throwing a combined 23 strikouts in the doubleheader. She also allowed just five hits and no walks.
Niles is now 24-10 overall.
The Lady Vikes are back in action today when they take on Lakeshore for the opening of the Division 2 District Tournament. The game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Stevensville.
