Junior Vikes end season 22-5 overall

NILES – Niles' JV baseball team wrapped up their 2007 season with a split with visiting Lakeshore.
The Vikes won the first game 6-5 and fell in the second 14-9.
In game one, Tyler Jackson (5-2) got the win on the mound for Niles. Dominique Pompey led the Viking offense going 2-for-2 with a double. Also hitting doubles for Niles were Tommy Flynn, Cody Maynard, and Javier Smith.
In game two, the Vikings trailed the Lancers until Sean Gordon tied the game with a grand slam home run in the fourth.
Cody Maynard then doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Justin Stroud giving Niles its first lead of the game.
Lakeshore reclaimed the lead for good in the top of the fifth. Maynard went 3-for-3 for Niles with two doubles.
Smith went 2-for-3. Also getting hits for the Vikings were Jackson, Pompey, Stroud, and Sam Whittaker.
The Junior Vikes finish the 2007 season at 22-5.
