Brandywine graduates net $415,000

NILES – Eighty-five separate awards of recognition and scholarships were presented to Brandywine students Wednesday. The annual Honors Assembly gave out $415,000 in scholarships.
Brian Wieger received the Principal's Leadership Award in addition to a third year pin for attendance, the Spanish award the male athlete's Wendy's High School Heisman Award, the President's Education Award for students achieving excellence with a 3.5 or higher GPA and being included in the 85 percentile or higher in math or reading on standardized tests and was one of Brandywine's Top Ten Seniors. Wieger was one of those included in the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and received one of the Lakeland Conference All Academic Athletic Awards.
To help out with post secondary graduation, Wieger has $40,000 from the University of Michigan, $5,000 from The Heart of Cook Scholarship, a $2,000 Saint Joseph/Benton Harbor Track Scholarship, $500 from the Jay and Cecile McCombs Scholarship and a Michigan Competitive Scholarship.
More than $415,000 in scholarships was awarded to Brandywine students. Among the top financial award winners were David Jordan, $71,000 Army Reserve Scholar/Athlete; Jeremy Hechtl, $60,000 from Manchester University, Matthew Duckett, $48,000 from Tri-State University; Nicholas Doria, who received the Navy Award of $38,000, Eric Rush and Ray Young each received the $37,000 Marine Scholastic Excellence Award and Daniel DeVos gets $18,000-full tuition from Grand Valley State University.
The Alpha Beta Award was given to Ollyce Kittleson.
